Friday the 17th of January seen St. David’s take on St. Declan’s of Cabra in the semi-final of the Dublin schools competition. St. David’s took the lead early on with an excellent goal by Dylan Maloney when he rounded the Declan’s keeper to finish to the net. Both teams exchanged scores with some precision free taking by Llyod Buckley keeping St. David’s on top. St. David’s extended their lead after 15 minutes after Nathan Donahue drove towards goal and smashed the ball home to put his side 5 points in front. Injury to Sean O’Brien forced the influential midfielder off the pitch and after St. Declan’s dispatched a penalty 10 minutes before half time the Cabra outfit started to gain the ascendency. After the break St. David’s battled to keep in the game with scores from placed balls from the boot of Llyod Buckley. However, it proved a bridge too far for St. David’s as Declan’s added on scores without reply to finish off victors on the day.
